The divorce proceedings between actor Ravi Mohan and his estranged wife Aarti Ravi have taken a fresh turn after Aarti’s mother, producer Sujatha Vijayakumar, addressed reports claiming her daughter had demanded Rs 40 lakh per month as maintenance. Speaking to the media, Sujatha clarified that the widely circulated figure has been misconstrued and does not represent Aarti’s personal maintenance.

According to Sujatha, the reported amount includes several expenses related to the couple’s children and other financial obligations, not money sought solely for Aarti. She further alleged that Ravi Mohan left the family with significant debts, resulting in severe financial difficulties.
“Aarti didn’t ask for Rs 40 lakh as monthly maintenance for herself. We have a lot of debt that was caused by him (Ravi Mohan), because of which the bank even issued a seizure notice. The children now don’t have money for school fees, food, or tuition,” she said.
She also explained that the children study in an American school, where the annual fee is around Rs 86 lakh. According to Sujatha, Ravi has been asked to pay Rs 3 lakh per month to Aarti, Rs 1 lakh per month for each child, and bear additional expenses such as their extracurricular activities.
“She never said that he shouldn’t meet the children. Only after adding all these expenses together does the total amount become what it is. So the claim that Aarti alone asked for Rs 40 lakh is simply false,” Sujatha added.
Ravi Mohan posts cryptic message
Hours after Sujatha’s statement, Ravi Mohan shared a cryptic note on his Instagram Stories without naming anyone.
“Happy Friendship Day, my dearest people. Thank you for standing by me like true friends. It is unfortunate that some people continue to act in ways that amount to contempt. As for me, I want to make one thing clear: the 4 of us will not ever be in the same room together as long as I am alive. Stay happy always and choose your friends wisely,” he wrote.
