Prahaar vs Awarapan 2: Rajkummar Rao Starrer Reportedly Postponed to Avoid Crowded Box Office Window

After months of speculation, Maddock Films announced nearly a month ago that Rajkummar Rao’s Prahaar would finally hit cinemas on August 7, 2026. However, the film is now reportedly set to be postponed to avoid a crowded theatrical release window.

Rajkummar Rao’s Prahaar Postponed?

Fans eagerly waiting to see Rajkummar Rao portray Ujjwal Nikam in the upcoming drama Prahaar may have to wait a little longer. According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, Maddock Films has decided to postpone the film’s release.

Prahaar was scheduled to arrive in cinemas on August 7. However, the makers reportedly felt that the film would benefit from a more favorable release window and decided against releasing it during the crowded period.

An insider quoted in the report said, “After discussions with the stakeholders, they felt that it would not be advisable to release the film during that period. Had it arrived on the scheduled date, it would have released a week after Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which arrives in cinemas on July 30, and a week before Batwara 1947 and Awarapan 2, both of which release on August 14, 2026. All three films appear promising. Meanwhile, Prahaar is a special film that requires a healthy window, as it has the potential to draw audiences in large numbers.”

The source further noted that producer Dinesh Vijan is known for extensive promotional campaigns for his films, often beginning well in advance. With only two weeks remaining before the scheduled release and no major promotional activity having begun, the film’s postponement appears likely.

However, the makers have not yet officially announced the postponement or revealed a new release date for Prahaar.
