Karathey Babu to Release on August 28, 2026; Ravi Mohan’s Action Drama Locks Theatrical Date

Ravi Mohan’s upcoming film Karathey Babu is gearing up for its theatrical release. Directed by Dada filmmaker Ganesh K. Babu, the action drama is officially set to arrive in cinemas on August 28, 2026.

The makers have confirmed that Karathey Babu will hit theatres worldwide on August 28, 2026. Announcing the release date on social media, they shared a striking poster along with the caption, “The wait is over. The date for the tiger’s arrival is locked.”

The story revolves around Shanmugha Babu, popularly known as Karathey Babu, whose life takes an unexpected turn after the death of a powerful figure triggers a series of dangerous and life-altering events. As he is drawn into a dark and complicated world, he must fight his way through mounting challenges.

Ravi Mohan headlines the film as the titular character. The ensemble cast also features debutante Daudee Jiwal, KS Ravikumar, Shakthi Vasu, Nasser, VTV Ganesh, Subramaniam Siva, Kavithalaya Krishnan, Pradeep Antony, Raja Rani Pandiyan, Ilan, Sam Anderson, Sri Dhanya, Sandeep Ravi Raj, Ananthi, Sindhu Priya, Ajith Ghosh, Kalki Raja, Knife Naren, and several others in pivotal roles.

The screenplay has been co-written by Rathna Kumar and Bakkiyam Sankar. Sam CS has composed the film’s soundtrack, while Ezhil Arasu K serves as the cinematographer and Kathiresh Alagesan handles the editing.

Ganesh K. Babu previously directed the critically acclaimed Dada, released in 2023. Starring Kavin in the lead, the emotional drama revolved around a college student who unexpectedly becomes a single father and learns to navigate the responsibilities of parenthood. The film received widespread appreciation from both audiences and critics.

Ravi Mohan’s Upcoming Projects

Ravi Mohan was last seen in a lead role in Sivakarthikeyan’s Parasakthi, directed by Sudha Kongara. The film explored themes of brotherhood and the fight against systemic injustice, with Sreeleela and Atharvaa Murali playing important roles alongside him.

Up next, the actor will be seen in Benz, headlined by Raghava Lawrence. The vigilante action entertainer is co-produced by Lokesh Kanagaraj and features Nivin Pauly as the primary antagonist.

Ravi Mohan also has Genie in the pipeline, co-starring Kalyani Priyadarshan, Krithi Shetty, and Wamiqa Gabbi. In addition, the Thani Oruvan actor is preparing to make his directorial debut with An Ordinary Man, which stars Yogi Babu in the lead.
