Dhanush is currently preparing for the title reveal of his upcoming film, tentatively referred to as D55. Amid the excitement surrounding his next release, fresh reports suggest that the actor may soon introduce his son, Yatra, to the film industry as a lead actor in a project backed by his own production banner.
Is Dhanush planning Yatra’s acting debut?
According to reports, Dhanush’s son Yatra is being considered for a lead role in a film that could be directed by filmmaker Rajkumar Periasamy. Music composer GV Prakash Kumar is reportedly in discussions to handle the soundtrack, while Dhanush is expected to bankroll the venture.
The project is said to be in the pre-production stage, with reports claiming that Yatra has already completed a look test. The makers are also believed to be planning an official launch event in the near future. However, no formal announcement has been made, and the development remains unconfirmed at this stage.
What Dhanush previously said about Yatra’s debut
At the pre-release event of Kara, Dhanush was asked about the possibility of his son entering the film industry. Responding to the speculation, the actor said, “I entered acting at the age of 16 due to circumstances. He is only 19 now, and I still see him as a child. It’s too early to predict what path he will choose in life.”
Dhanush’s upcoming projects
Dhanush was last seen in Kara, an action thriller set in 1991 and directed by Vignesh Raja. The film revolved around Karasamy, a former thief forced to return to crime in order to recover his family’s ancestral property and honor his father’s final wish.
The movie also featured Mamitha Baiju, KS Ravikumar, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Karunaas, and Jayaram in important roles. Following its theatrical run, the film began streaming on Netflix and received mixed-to-positive responses from audiences and critics.
Up next, Dhanush will be seen in D55, which also stars Mammootty, Sreeleela, and Sai Pallavi in significant roles. The makers are expected to unveil the film’s official title on June 18, 2026.
Beyond D55, the actor has several exciting projects in the pipeline, including a collaboration with Lubber Pandhu director Tamizharasan Pachamuthu and a large-scale period action film with filmmaker Mari Selvaraj. Industry reports also suggest that Dhanush is exploring a potential project with director Siva.
