Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai Box Office Day 11: Varun Dhawan Starrer Collects Rs 1 Crore, Run Nears Finish

by masalabuzz

Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, directed by David Dhawan and featuring Varun Dhawan, Mrunal Thakur, and Pooja Hegde, collected an estimated Rs. 1 crore nett on its second Monday. The film witnessed a decline of around 45 percent compared to its second Friday and nearly 70 percent from its first Monday collections.

With this, the romantic comedy’s total domestic box office collection has reached approximately Rs. 43.75 crore nett. Going by its current pace, the film is expected to cross the Rs. 45 crore mark by the end of its second Tuesday and could conclude its second week with earnings in the range of Rs. 46-47 crore nett.

The film’s performance is tracking along similar lines to Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, which wrapped up its theatrical run with around Rs. 60 crore nett. At present, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai is projected to finish its lifetime run in the vicinity of Rs. 50-55 crore nett, a result that would be considered underwhelming given the scale and budget of the production.

Romantic comedies and mid-budget films continue to face challenges in the post-pandemic theatrical landscape. One major factor is the growing influence of digital streaming platforms, which has significantly impacted cinema attendance. The current eight-week OTT release window often encourages audiences to wait for the film’s digital debut rather than watching it in theatres.

Many industry observers believe that extending the gap between theatrical and streaming releases to around six months could help revive cinema footfalls and improve the box office prospects of such genres.
