In an interview with The Indian Express, Prakash Padukone praised Ranveer Singh and his daughter Deepika Padukone’s dedication to their daughter Dua Padukone Singh, who was welcomed into the world in September 2024.
Describing them as thoroughly ‘hands-on parents’, the sporting icon shed light on their teamwork. “Of course, Deepika does a lot more, but Ranveer helps a lot whenever he’s not working. Both families are also present to help,” expressed the sporting legend.
For the 70-year-old badminton maestro, watching his granddaughter grow has been a full-circle experience. Padukone candidly admitted that during his peak playing years, he missed out on the day-to-day upbringing of his daughters, Deepika and Anisha.
“As a parent, I don’t remember having brought up our kids or being involved as much because I was hardly home. I do remember important things, but the day-to-day details were missed. Now I notice every little change. Almost every day, there’s something new,” he shared.
Even though Dua is the child of two of India’s biggest actors, Prakash Padukone and his wife, Ujjala, are determined to give her a taste of normal life whenever she visits them in Bengaluru. Hence, they often sneak her out for Metro and auto-rickshaw rides and take her to parks and other public places.
In the chat, Padukone described Dua as a social, friendly child who loves to greet people she meets. “She’s a very friendly child, so she likes to mix with people,” the grandpa divulged. “She says hello to almost everybody. She’s been travelling from a very young age. That has really helped. She’s growing up quite fast and at a very interesting stage right now,” he added.
