Kalki 2898 AD, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, and Prabhas, was released in theaters in 2024 and became a massive hit. While Deepika Padukone had exited the franchise earlier, it now appears that another Bollywood diva may be stepping into the same sci-fi universe.
Is Alia Bhatt joining the cast of Prabhas-led Kalki 2?
According to reports, including those cited by Aakashavaani and Telugu Chitraalu, Alia Bhatt has joined the Kalki 2898 AD universe. While an official confirmation is still awaited, the actress is said to have joined the film during its second shooting schedule and reportedly spent five days filming in Hyderabad last month.
Initially, there was speculation that she might replace Deepika Padukone and portray the role of Kalki’s mother, Sumathi (aka SUM-80). However, reports suggest that Bhatt will instead play a different key character, while Sai Pallavi is likely to step into Padukone’s role.
Recently, it was reported that the film will resume shooting with upcoming schedules soon and is expected to wrap up at a rapid pace. In an exclusive report says that the movie is slated for a theatrical release in December 2027, with filming expected to conclude by April next year.
The sequel is expected to delve deeper into the mythology and emotional arcs established in the first film. While plot details remain under wraps, insiders suggest that Supreme Yaskin will take center stage, alongside several new twists and characters.
