Main Vaapas Aaunga, directed by Imtiaz Ali, recorded a 60 percent growth on its Day 2 after a dismal start. The movie added Rs. 1.85 crore to the tally, bringing the two-day cume to Rs. 3 crore nett at the Indian box office. Based on current trends, the period emotional romance drama is looking to wind up its opening weekend at Rs. 5 crore nett, which is a disastrous start to say so.
Though Imtiaz Ali’s films have never been an opener at the box office, there were still some hopes that it could turn around better traction, considering his cinema’s fan-following and Diljit Dosanjh. However, nothing worked in its favor. The only positive is that the movie is receiving a positive to mixed word-of-mouth so far. Considering the artistic lens, it’s a winner for Imtiaz but not from the box office perspective.
Backed by Applause Entertainment, the Naseeruddin Shah, Diljit Dosanjh, Sharvari, and Vedang Raina starrer needs a miraculous trend at the box office to sail through a respectable run. As of now, the movie is heading towards a disappointing end. It could struggle to hit the Rs. 10 crore nett mark in its full run.
Day-wise box office collections of Main Vaapas Aaunga are as follows:
Day Box Office
1 Rs. 1.15 crore
2 Rs. 1.85 crore
Total Rs. 3.00 crore
