Actor Ram Charan recently found himself at the center of online chatter after making an unexpected blunder during the launch event of his upcoming film Peddi in Bhopal. While interacting with the audience, the actor accidentally referred to Indian cricketer Jasprit Bumrah as a footballer, triggering a wave of reactions across social media platforms.

Soon after the clip went viral, Ram Charan issued a public apology on X (formerly Twitter), clarifying that the mix-up happened unintentionally amid the excitement of the crowded event. He wrote, “Uff… I’m genuinely so forgetful with names sometimes. Apologies to @Jaspritbumrah93 Ji for the mix-up – it was a genuine human error in the middle of all the excitement and the crowd.” He further praised Bumrah and added that he deeply respects the cricketer and admires how he makes every Indian proud with his performances on the field.

The confusion happened during a fun segment where Ram Charan was asked to describe famous cricket personalities in a few words. He called Sachin Tendulkar’s journey “long and legendary,” described MS Dhoni as “calm and cool,” and referred to Virat Kohli as “fire.” However, while speaking about Bumrah, he mistakenly said, “I love football. Aap football ko itne aage bada rahe ho,” leaving fans surprised.

Adding to the awkward moment, the actor also accidentally referred to Bhopal as Bihar while addressing the crowd. Despite the minor slip-ups, the grand event successfully launched the film’s latest song, Hellallalo, in the presence of stars like Janhvi Kapoor, A. R. Rahman, Ravi Kishan, and Divyenndu.

Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, Peddi is slated for a theatrical release on June 4, 2026, in multiple languages including Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam.
