Bhooth Bangla, starring Akshay Kumar and Wamiqa Gabbi in lead roles, continued its successful theatrical run by collecting an estimated Rs. 1.40 crore on its fourth Friday. With this, the horror-comedy’s total India nett collection has climbed to approximately Rs. 144.40 crore. The film is now inching closer to the coveted Rs. 150 crore mark and is expected to cross the milestone soon before heading toward its lifetime finish.
Directed by Priyadarshan, the film currently enjoys a clean box office run this week. Going by present trends, trade estimates suggest that Bhooth Bangla could conclude its theatrical journey in the range of Rs. 155 crore to Rs. 160 crore nett in India.
For Akshay Kumar, the success of the film comes as a significant relief after a difficult post-pandemic phase at the box office marked by multiple underperformers. While the actor had a comparatively better year recently with a few moderately successful films, Bhooth Bangla appears to have finally emerged as a clear commercial success.
Industry observers have often pointed out that the Hindi box office tends to benefit when prolific stars like Akshay Kumar consistently deliver releases. Though the actor may not always produce massive Rs. 500 crore grossers, his ability to headline multiple successful films within a single year plays an important role in sustaining theatrical business. Apart from Ajay Devgn, very few mainstream stars currently maintain such a high release frequency, with many leading actors taking years between projects.
