The excitement surrounding Gadar appears far from over. Just when fans believed the journey of Tara Singh and Sakina had concluded with the blockbuster success of Gadar 2, actress Ameesha Patel has reignited frenzy online by seemingly confirming that Gadar 3 is officially in development.
Ameesha Patel Hints at a Bigger and More Explosive Sequel
Taking to X , Ameesha Patel shared a series of enthusiastic posts celebrating the legacy of the franchise while teasing what lies ahead. In one of her tweets, the actress confidently declared that the third installment would arrive “for sure” and predicted massive box office numbers for the film.
She wrote that whenever Gadar 3 releases, it would create chaos in theatres and stated that earning Rs. 500 crore would be merely the starting point for a franchise as iconic as Gadar. She further promised that the scale and screenplay of the upcoming installment would be even grander and more explosive than before.
Interestingly, this is not the first indication regarding the sequel. Back in 2024, filmmaker Anil Sharma had already revealed in an interview that preparations for Gadar 3 were underway and that the writing process had begun.
The Gadar holds a special place in Indian cinema history. The original Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, released in 2001, became one of the most celebrated mass entertainers of its era. Set against the backdrop of the India-Pakistan partition, the emotional love story of Tara Singh, played by Sunny Deol, and Sakina, portrayed by Ameesha Patel, struck a deep chord with audiences across the country.
More than two decades later, the pair reunited in Gadar 2, which was set during the 1971 Indo-Pak war. The sequel turned into a major box office sensation and reaffirmed the audience’s enduring love for the franchise.
Following the success of Gadar 2, Ameesha Patel appeared in films such as Tauba Tera Jalwa and Mystery of the Tattoo. Meanwhile, Sunny Deol has continued to expand his lineup with projects including Jaat, Border 2, Lahore 1947, Ikka, and Ramayana Parts 1 and 2.
