The Malayalam film Patriot, starring Mammootty and Mohanlal, is holding steady at the box office. After a strong opening of Rs. 8.50 crore, the spy thriller saw a 38% dip on Day 2, adding Rs. 5.25 crore. This takes its two-day total to Rs. 13.75 crore gross in Kerala.
The film is now on track to wrap up its opening weekend at around Rs. 18 crore in the state, which would mark an impressive start. Backed by largely positive to mixed word-of-mouth, along with its star-studded cast, the film is drawing consistent footfalls. However, its long-term performance will depend on how well it sustains during the weekdays.
Patriot stands as one of the biggest Malayalam productions of the year in terms of scale and ensemble. It is expected to challenge top-grossing films like Manjummel Boys and L2: Empuraan, among others.
Apart from the two legends, the film also features Kunchacko Boban, Fahadh Faasil, Nayanthara, Revathy, Indrans, and more in key roles. The film is directed by Mahesh Narayanan.
