Aamir Khan’s latest production venture Ek Din witnessed a sharp 25% drop on its second day after an already underwhelming opening. The film added just Rs. 75 lakh on Day 2, taking its two-day total to Rs. 1.75 crore nett at the Indian box office. Ideally, the film needed growth or at least stability on Saturday, but the decline has virtually sealed its fate.
Mounted on a hefty budget of around Rs. 75 crore, the romantic drama starring Junaid Khan and Sai Pallavi is now heading toward a disastrous theatrical run. Going by current trends, Ek Din is expected to wrap up its lifetime collections below Rs. 5 crore, making it one of the biggest box office failures in recent times.
The film marks Junaid Khan’s third outing after Maharaj and Loveyapa. While Maharaj premiered directly on OTT, Loveyapa underperformed in cinemas. Moving forward, the actor may need to focus on stronger scripts and steer clear of remakes to establish a solid foothold. His next project is reportedly Ragini 3, a horror-comedy co-starring Tamannaah Bhatia. Meanwhile, Sai Pallavi will next be seen in Ramayana alongside Ranbir Kapoor.
Day-wise box office collection of Ek Din:
Day 1: Rs. 1.00 crore
Day 2: Rs. 0.75 crore (est.)
Total: Rs. 1.75 crore
For the unversed, the film also features Kunal Kapoor, Kavin Dave, Jenifer Emmanuel, Astha Gulati, and others. The story revolves around a couple grappling with limited time together due to a rare memory disorder and is reportedly adapted from the Thai film One Day.
