Rabb Da Radio 3 opens strong, earns over Rs. 4 crore worldwide on day one

Rabb Da Radio 3 has made a solid start at the Indian box office, earning around Rs. 1.30 crore gross (approximately Rs. 1.10 crore nett) on its opening day. Headlined by Tarsem Jassar, the third installment in the franchise also delivered a strong overseas performance, collecting approx. USD 325K (around Rs. 3 crore). This takes its total worldwide opening to roughly Rs. 4.30 crore.

While a Rs. 1 crore nett opening may not seem remarkable by current standards, the domestic Punjabi film market has been struggling in recent times. In fact, it has been nearly a year since any Punjabi release crossed the Rs. 1 crore nett mark on day one. Given this backdrop, the film’s opening should be viewed positively.

The Good Friday holiday likely boosted collections, particularly in international markets, though its full impact in India remains to be seen. If the film shows growth on Saturday followed by the usual Sunday spike, it could set itself up for a strong opening weekend. With no major competition and additional holidays ahead, the film has a favorable run at the box office.

The original Rabb Da Radio, which marked Tarsem Jassar’s debut in 2017, was a major success and opened to Rs. 80 lakh nett—an impressive figure at the time. Its sequel, Rabb Da Radio 2, released in 2019, delivered an average performance.

With a promising opening, the third installment now has the potential to follow the success of the original if it maintains momentum. The Punjabi film industry recently saw its first hit of the year with Ishqan De Lekhe in March, and continued success for this film would further boost industry confidence.
