Drishyam 3 release pushed to May 21, 2026 to mark Mohanlal’s 66th birthday

Mohanlal’s Drishyam 3, the third installment in the popular crime thriller franchise directed by Jeethu Joseph, has been postponed. Originally scheduled for an April 2, 2026 release, the film will now arrive in theatres on May 21, 2026, coinciding with the actor’s 66th birthday.

Drishyam 3 new release date

The updated release date was announced by Mohanlal on social media. Sharing the news, he teased the return of Georgekutty with the caption, “The past never stays silent… it only waits. Georgekutty arrives, May 21, 2026. Drishyam 3 | Worldwide Release.”

Although the makers haven’t officially confirmed the reason for the delay, reports suggest it could be linked to challenges in releasing the film across GCC countries under the current social climate. The new date, however, adds a celebratory touch for fans as it aligns with Mohanlal’s birthday.

The postponement may also work in favor of other Malayalam releases like Aadu 3, as well as upcoming films such as Prathichaya, starring Nivin Pauly, and Vaazha 2, which are set to release in the coming weeks.

More about Drishyam 3

The Drishyam series follows the story of Georgekutty, a middle-class man whose life turns upside down when his family becomes entangled in the disappearance of Varun Prabhakar, the son of a high-ranking police officer. The films explore how he navigates suspicion, investigation, and the consequences of his actions.

While Drishyam 2 expanded the narrative further, the third installment is expected to take the story into a new and more intense chapter.

Alongside Mohanlal, the film will see the return of key cast members including Meena, Ansiba Hassan, Esther Anil, Asha Sharath, Murali Gopy, and Siddique.

Mohanlal’s upcoming projects

On the work front, Mohanlal is currently shooting for L366, directed by Tharun Moorthy, with Meera Jasmine as the co-lead. He also has other projects lined up, including L367 and Priyadarshan’s 100th film.

Additionally, the veteran actor will be seen in Patriot alongside Mammootty, Jailer 2 starring Rajinikanth, and Khalifa: Part 1 featuring Prithviraj Sukumaran.
