Love Insurance Kompany (LIK), starring Pradeep Ranganathan and Krithi Shetty, is finally gearing up for its theatrical release. After multiple delays and uncertainty, the film is now set to hit cinemas on April 3, 2026, aligning with the occasion of Good Friday.
Official announcement
The makers shared the long-awaited release update on social media after months of speculation. Confirming the date, they wrote, “It’s going to be a Good Friday. 3.4.2026.”
About the film
Directed by Vignesh Shivan, Love Insurance Kompany is a sci-fi romantic comedy set in the year 2040, portraying a futuristic version of Chennai where relationships are governed by apps and technology.
The story follows a man who believes in traditional, old-school love as he meets Dheema, a modern, tech-driven woman. Their relationship soon comes under threat from Suriyan, the CEO of a love app, forcing the protagonist to battle corporate power and a technology-controlled view of romance.
Apart from the lead pair, the film also features SJ Suryah, Seeman, Yogi Babu, Gouri G Kishan, and Shah Ra in key roles. Music for the film is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, who also voices a robot character.
Release delays
The film has faced several postponements. It was initially scheduled for September 18, 2025, before being pushed to October 17, 2025, during Diwali. To avoid a box office clash with Dude, starring Pradeep Ranganathan and Mamitha Baiju, it was later shifted to December 18, 2025. The latest announcement finally confirms its April 2026 release.
Meanwhile, Vignesh Shivan’s previous directorial venture, Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal, starring Vijay Sethupathi, Nayanthara, and Samantha Ruth Prabhu, received mixed responses from audiences and critics.
