Sunny Deol’s latest release, Border 2, has opened to a strong response at the Indian box office. The military drama, directed by Anurag Singh, began its theatrical run by collecting ₹28 crore net on Day 1, marking an impressive start for the film.
With this opening, Border 2 has emerged as Sunny Deol’s second-biggest opener, trailing only behind his 2023 blockbuster Gadar 2. Directed by Anil Sharma, Gadar 2 had scripted a massive comeback for the actor, smashing records with a ₹39 crore net opening day. The film went on to become one of the highest-grossing Hindi films of all time.
With the Republic Day holiday around the corner, Border 2 is well placed to post a strong first-week total and build further momentum in the days ahead.
In Sunny Deol’s list of biggest opening-day earners, his previous release Jaat stands at the third position. Directed by Gopichand Malineni, the film opened at ₹9.50 crore net and went on to deliver an average performance at the box office. The remaining two spots in the top five are occupied by films from the Yamla Pagla Deewana franchise.
