Border 2 Box Office: Sunny Deol’s Military Action Drama Sells 55K Advance Tickets, Eyes Big Opening

Sunny Deol’s much-anticipated Border 2 is off to a solid start at the box office. As of 10 PM on January 21, the military actioner had sold around 55,000 tickets across India’s top cinema chains—PVR, Inox, and Cinepolis—for its opening day. By the next morning, the advance bookings were expected to cross 60,000 tickets, generating roughly Rs 4 crore net even before the first show.

While these numbers are healthy, expectations were higher given the legacy and nostalgia of the Border franchise. The film is now looking for momentum, hoping for a strong jump in sales on the final day of pre-bookings—similar to how Sunny Deol’s last blockbuster, Gadar 2, saw its final pre-sales soar threefold over the penultimate day. If Border 2 manages a comparable surge, its advance bookings could touch around 1.5 lakh tickets.

How Border 2 Stacks Up Against Gadar 2

Compared to Gadar 2, Border 2 is currently trailing in advance bookings. For reference:

Gadar 2 went on to record a Rs 40 crore opening day and eventually crossed Rs 500 crore net, setting a high benchmark for Border 2.

Box Office Outlook

Directed by Anurag Singh and backed by Nidhi Dutta and Bhushan Kumar, Border 2 is expected to open in the range of Rs 30–37 crore, with Masala Buzz predicting a Rs 32 crore net start. The film has the potential to become one of the first big Hindi hits of the year, especially if word-of-mouth turns positive. With no major releases clashing—except for Shahid Kapoor and Vishal Bharadwaj’s O’ Romeo—the stage is set for a strong theatrical run.

Star-Studded Cast

Alongside Sunny Deol, the film features an ensemble of Diljit Dosanjh, Varun Dhawan, Ahan Shetty, Mona Singh, Sonam Bajwa, Medha Rana, Anya Singh, and more. Fans are eagerly lining up to witness the war action drama on the big screen, hoping the sequel can match the box office glory of its predecessors.

Stay tuned for more updates as Border 2 gears up for its grand release.
