Happy Patel: Khatarnaak Jasoos Fails to Impress, Collects Just Rs. 40 Lakh on First Monday
Aamir Khan Productions’ latest outing, Happy Patel: Khatarnaak Jasoos, starring Vir Das in the lead, failed to strike a chord with audiences. Released on January 16, the spy-comedy drama opened to modest numbers and continued to struggle at the box office. On its first Monday, the film managed to collect only Rs. 40 lakh, bringing its four-day total to Rs. 4.15 crore net in India.
The movie saw a sharp decline in collections, with Monday’s figures marking a 70% drop from Sunday and a 60% dip from the opening day. At this pace, trade analysts predict that the film could wrap up its theatrical run within the first week itself, with total earnings likely hovering between Rs. 6–8 crore net, marking it as a major flop for the makers.
Despite Aamir Khan’s creative touch in marketing and promotional efforts, the film couldn’t ignite the audience’s interest. Mixed word-of-mouth from the very first day sealed its fate, leaving little room for recovery.
Day-wise Box Office Collections:
| Day | Box Office |
|---|---|
| 1 | Rs. 1.10 crore |
| 2 | Rs. 1.25 crore |
| 3 | Rs. 1.40 crore |
| 4 | Rs. 0.40 crore |
| Total: Rs. 4.15 crore net |
Happy Patel: Khatarnaak Jasoos is a spy-comedy drama with Vir Das in the lead, supported by Mithila Palkar, Mona Singh, Sharib Hashmi, and others. The film also features special appearances by Imran Khan and Aamir Khan.
Though the concept promised fun and intrigue, the combination of average promotions and lukewarm reception meant the film couldn’t capture the audience’s imagination.
