Dulquer Salmaan’s latest release I Am Game has had a rather underwhelming opening weekend at the Kerala box office. The Malayalam film collected approximately Rs. 13.70 crore gross in its first four days, with its business following a largely downward trend through the weekend, barring a slight improvement on Sunday.
Directed by Nahas Hidhayath, the film has received mixed word-of-mouth from audiences, which appears to be impacting its theatrical performance. The Dulquer Salmaan starrer has also had to compete with the strong hold of Bethlehem Kudumba Unit, which continues to dominate the Kerala ticket window despite being a holdover release.
A more positive reception could have helped I Am Game put up considerably stronger numbers. However, with audience response remaining mixed, the film’s box-office journey looks challenging from here.
On the global front, I Am Game is estimated to have crossed Rs. 30 crore gross worldwide. The final actuals could vary. At this stage, the film does not appear to have much momentum left, and its performance on the weekdays will be crucial in determining how long it can sustain its theatrical run.
