Batwara 1947 Box Office Collections: Sunny Deol’s Film Takes a Massive Monday Hit, Reaches Rs 28.50 Crore

Batwara 1947 has struggled to connect with audiences at the box office. The Sunny Deol-led film earned around Rs. 1.25 crore to Rs. 1.50 crore on its first Monday (Day 4), witnessing a steep 75 per cent decline compared to its opening day. With this, the film’s four-day total stands at approximately Rs. 26 crore nett in India.

The Aamir Khan Productions-backed film has received mixed word-of-mouth, which has significantly impacted its theatrical performance. Going by the current trends, Batwara 1947 is likely to finish its opening week below the Rs. 30 crore mark—a figure that ideally should have been achievable in a single day for a Sunny Deol starrer mounted on this scale. The film is now heading towards a disappointing theatrical run.

Batwara 1947 went into production following the massive success of Gadar 2, which helped bring Sunny Deol back into the spotlight after a prolonged period. Produced by Aamir Khan Productions, the film is set against the backdrop of Partition and incorporates mass-oriented elements, though they are less prominent compared to the Gadar franchise. The story centres on a Pakistani Sunny Deol protecting a Hindu woman and her faith, a premise that may not resonate as strongly with the core audience as Tara Singh’s battle against Pakistan.
