Will Rajinikanth’s Thalaivar 173 see a director change? Makers may replace Cibi Chakaravarthi

Superstar Rajinikanth is currently busy with his upcoming film Jailer 2 and is expected to soon begin work on his next project, Thalaivar 173. However, the film is once again in the news due to possible changes in its directorial team.

Is Thalaivar 173 replacing its director?

As per reports from Valai Pechu, Don director Cibi Chakaravarthi may no longer helm the project. The filmmaker is reportedly entangled in a dispute with a Telugu production house over a separate film featuring Nani, which he exited citing creative differences.

The producers of that project have allegedly demanded compensation for pre-production expenses and are said to have proposed a partnership in Thalaivar 173. However, the film’s producers, Raaj Kamal Films International, reportedly declined the offer.

With the issue still unresolved, speculation suggests that the makers are considering bringing in Dragon director Ashwath Marimuthu as a replacement. Interestingly, Ashwath had earlier revealed that he narrated a script to Rajinikanth, which the superstar reportedly liked.

That said, there has been no official confirmation from the makers, and these developments remain speculative for now.
