Kareena Kapoor Khan has always followed her instincts, both in her career and personal life. She proved this when she chose to marry Saif Ali Khan despite being at the peak of her stardom—ignoring widespread advice warning her against the decision.

When Kareena was advised against marrying Saif

Back in 2012, Kareena Kapoor was one of the top actresses in Bollywood. At the time, many believed that marriage could negatively impact her career. However, she went ahead and tied the knot with Saif Ali Khan in October that year.

In later interviews, including one with Filmfare, the Jab We Met star revealed that several people from within the industry and even well-wishers discouraged her from getting married to her Tashan co-star.

Recalling those reactions, she shared that many told her, “Shaadi mat karna, warna career khatam ho jayega” (Don’t get married, your career will be over). To this, Kareena responded that even if her career were affected, it wouldn’t be the end of her life, adding that she was deeply in love.

She further mentioned that she was prepared to face professional consequences if it meant being with Saif. However, her fears proved unfounded as she continued to deliver successful films after marriage, including Singham Returns, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Ki & Ka, and Udta Punjab. Kareena has also credited Saif for being supportive throughout her journey.

Life after marriage

Kareena and Saif tied the knot in Mumbai after dating for several years. The couple later welcomed their sons—Taimur Ali Khan in 2016 and Jehangir Ali Khan in 2021.

What’s next

On the professional front, Kareena is currently working on Daayra, directed by Meghna Gulzar and co-starring Prithviraj Sukumaran. Meanwhile, Saif Ali Khan has Haiwaan lined up.
