Kiara Advani says motherhood hasn’t slowed her down—it has simply changed the way she experiences time. Speaking to Vogue, the actor shared that becoming a mother has made her more present in every moment, whether she’s at work or at home with her daughter, Saraayah.
“When I’m with Saraayah, I’m really with her,” Kiara said. “When I bathe her, I notice everything—her eyelashes, her tiny fingers, her giggles. These little moments feel incredibly precious.” The actor welcomed her daughter last July and revealed that even during pregnancy, she continued working while keeping the news private.
She also shared a deeply personal ritual from her shooting days. Before performing emotional scenes, Kiara would quietly slip into the narrow bathroom of her vanity van and speak to her unborn child. “Mama is only acting, okay? This isn’t real,” she would whisper, reminding herself to separate the intensity of her roles from the calm she wanted to protect for her baby.
How Kiara balances motherhood and work
Work never really paused for Kiara after becoming a mother. Her recent release, War 2, was among the biggest films of 2025, and she has a bilingual project lined up for March. What has changed, she says, is how she treats time. “I’ve become very focused about how I use the gaps. Earlier, time could just leak away. Now, I feel responsible for it.”
Between feeding her baby and taking calls, Kiara listens to narrations and reads scripts, finding a rhythm that allows both her personal and professional lives to coexist. She spoke about choosing presence over constant productivity, letting go of events and appearances that no longer feel necessary. “Softness isn’t the opposite of strength,” she said. “It’s one way of being strong.”
Kiara also credited her strong support system—her mother, her team, and her husband, Sidharth Malhotra, whom she describes as an “incredibly hands-on father.” Travel continues to be a shared love for the couple, and Kiara hopes to raise Saraayah as a child who experiences the world fully.
Motherhood has also reshaped her relationship with her body. Kiara shared that when she looks at herself now, she thinks about the life she has created—and that nothing compares to that. Whatever shape or size she is, she says, her body deserves respect for what it has done.
As she continues to balance her ambitions as an actor with her role as a mother, Kiara believes the two journeys can grow side by side. Motherhood, she says, has expanded her perspective and sharpened her inner drive—proving that both parts of her life can thrive together.
