The hit pairing of Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan has delivered a strong box office performer with Bhooth Bangla. The horror-comedy has already collected around ₹120 crore in just two weeks and is on track to finish near ₹150 crore in India, securing a clean hit status.

Success overshadowed by rumours

While the team celebrates the film’s success and looks ahead to future collaborations, speculation has surfaced online suggesting that Tabu was unhappy with her role being reduced during editing. Some reports even alleged that Akshay Kumar influenced the edits.

However, Priyadarshan has firmly dismissed these claims, calling them baseless. “I don’t know who is spreading this negativity. As the director, I decide what stays in the film. Tabu is not upset at all. I’ve worked with her on eight films—if there was an issue, she would have told me. She’s happy, and everything she shot is in the film,” he clarified.

Director sets the record straight

Priyadarshan also addressed claims about Akshay Kumar’s involvement in the editing process, stating that the actor never interferes with such decisions. “Akshay didn’t ask me to change anything. He never does. I handle my work honestly, and every actor watches the film before release,” he added, criticizing those spreading misinformation.

Strong ensemble and steady run

Bhooth Bangla features a solid comedic ensemble including Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Asrani, and Manoj Joshi. The film continues to perform well into its third weekend, holding steady despite competition from titles like Raja Shivaji, The Devil Wears Prada 2, and Michael.
