Bollywood actor, filmmaker, and producer Sohail Khan is all set to explore a new avenue in his career as he makes his reality television debut. The 55-year-old will enter Kunal Kemmu-hosted Alliance as a wildcard contestant and says the show gives him an opportunity to be known beyond the label of “Salman Khan’s brother.”
Sohail Khan on joining Alliance
Speaking to Hindustan Times, Sohail shared that he sees Alliance as a chance to establish his own identity without relying on his famous surname.
Reflecting on his decision, he said, “In the show, there’s no family name to lean on. No industry clout. It’s just me, my mind, and how I play the game. If people walk away seeing a side of me they didn’t expect, good. That’s exactly why I’m here.”
Having watched Salman Khan host Bigg Boss for years, Sohail admitted that he had never imagined himself participating in a reality show. According to him, his brother’s show revolves around strong personalities, emotional confrontations, and interpersonal conflicts.
“I’ve seen what it takes—the energy, the drama, the emotional toll. And I always thought, ‘That’s his space, not mine.’ Salman’s show is about personalities, conflicts and emotions,” he said.
Explaining what attracted him to Alliance, Sohail noted that the format is built around strategy rather than emotional drama.
“But this one is fundamentally different. It’s a game of the mind. Strategy. Outwitting people without them knowing they’ve been outwitted. That challenge appealed to me in a way nothing else has,” he added.
What Salman Khan told Sohail before the show
Recalling Salman Khan’s reaction after learning about his participation, Sohail revealed that his brother responded with both curiosity and concern.
“He was intrigued. And then he said, ‘You sure you know what you’re getting into?’ Which, knowing him, is both a warning and a blessing. I’ll take it,” Sohail shared.
When asked how his family members would fit into a reality show setting, Sohail described Salman as the natural leader, while Arbaaz Khan would play the role of the peacemaker who listens, mediates, and keeps everyone grounded.
He also credited his mother, Salma Khan, as the family’s true master strategist, saying she has been managing the household and guiding the family for decades.
