Krishnavataram Part 1

Krishnavataram Part 1: Hridayam collected Rs. 2 crore on its second Saturday, registering a 50 per cent jump from Friday. The drop from the first Saturday is just 5 per cent, which is a good hold. However, the film needed to trend far better. Though it’s not bad for something with no face value and limited release, it’s just not going well with its relatively high budget.

The running cume of Krishnavataram reached Rs. 14.75 crore in 9 days. It is going to end the second weekend around Rs. 5 crore or so, which will be pretty similar to its first weekend. Ideally, the movie should have recorded a good spike from the first weekend since the word-of-mouth is quite positive. The film could have benefited from better marketing, as the awareness was simply not there.

There was Mahavatar Narsimha last year, which was an animated film based on two of the avatars of Lord Vishnu. That film opened to Rs. 1.25 crore nett on the first day, saw exponential growth over the weekend to Rs. 3.25 crore nett on Saturday and Rs. 6.25 crore nett on Sunday. It eventually went on to collect Rs. 170 crore nett in Hindi. Krishnavataram is a live-action film on the Krishna avatar. It couldn’t show the kind of growth Mahavatar Narsimha had. But these films are hard to predict. We also saw a film like Laalo: Krishna Sada Sahayate last year, which did almost nothing in the first three weeks and then exploded.

The Box Office Collections for Krishnavataram Part 1: The Heart (Hindi) in India are as follows:

Friday Rs. 1.05 cr.
Saturday Rs. 2.15 cr.

Thursday Rs. 1.20 cr.
