After the historic success of the Dhurandhar franchise, Ranveer Singh is taking the reins of one of the most anticipated literary adaptations. After exclusively reported that the actor is working on The Immortals of Meluha with Birla Studios and is set to play Lord Shiva, a new update has surfaced online. According to Bollywood Hungama, Singh has acquired the rights to the project.

Seems like Ranveer Singh has already started brainstorming the action plan for his next project. An insider told the above-mentioned publication that the superstar was to lead The Immortals of Meluha.

But since Singh was fascinated by the world, and had the dream of playing Lord Shiva in the spectacle, he decided to buy the rights the minute they expired from Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Apparently, Ranveer procured it under his own banner, Maa Kasam Films.

According to their source, “Ranveer has bagged the Immortal of Meluha trilogy for a humongous sum of Rs. 40 crores. It’s a passion project for him, and he has put it under development.” Apparently, the Dhurandhar star relied on the National Award-winning filmmaker to turn writer Amish Tripathi’s fantasy novel into a cinematic spectacle.

“Ranveer has been passionate about bringing Meluha to the big screen for a long time now. The acquisition happened recently, and the project is now officially under development,” a reliable source told us.

It was also revealed that the makers are approaching the franchise as a long-term cinematic universe, and the plan is to tell the story over 3 films. “The writing work has already begun, and the team is taking its time to crack the screenplay and world-building. The first part is expected to go on floors in 2028,” the source added.
