According to reports, the 79-year-old filmmaker sustained severe injuries in a car accident in Udaipur and later succumbed to them. His mortal remains are expected to be brought to Chennai on May 6, with funeral arrangements to follow.
An official statement from his production house confirmed the news, expressing deep grief over his demise. The note highlighted his immense contributions to Indian cinema over the decades and described his passing as a huge loss to the film industry. Condolences were extended to his family, along with prayers for his soul.
A legacy across multiple film industries
RB Choudary was a prominent name in Indian cinema, best known for producing films in Tamil and Telugu, while also contributing to Malayalam and Hindi cinema. Before entering films, he was involved in businesses such as steel, exports, and jewellery.
He began his journey in the Malayalam film industry and later moved into Tamil cinema in 1989, continuing production under the same banner alongside R. Mohan of Good Knight. Over the years, he backed several successful films, including Poove Unakkaga, Love Today, Thullatha Manamum Thullum, Shahjahan, Jilla, and Thirupaachi, many of which starred Vijay.
He also produced notable projects like Suswagatham and Annavaram featuring Pawan Kalyan, Raja starring Venkatesh, and Keerthi Chakra with Mohanlal. He was also associated as a co-producer on Godfather, headlined by Chiranjeevi.

Personal life
RB Choudary is survived by his wife Mahjabeen and their four sons, including actor Jiiva. His son Suresh manages the production house, while Jeevan is an entrepreneur in the steel business, and Jithan Ramesh is also active in films as an actor and producer.
