Ranveer Singh Asked to Apologize at Chamundeshwari Temple After ‘Kantara’ Mimicry Row

Ranveer Singh found himself at the center of controversy in 2025 after mimicking Rishab Shetty’s performance from Kantara: Chapter 1. A complaint was filed against the Dhurandhar: The Revenge actor, alleging that his act hurt religious sentiments. However, Singh later issued an unconditional apology. In a recent development, the court has quashed the complaint while directing him to visit the Chamundeshwari Temple within four weeks to seek forgiveness.

The actor has now received major relief, as the case linked to the mimicry controversy has been dismissed. According to reports, Ranveer submitted an unconditional apology and requested that the complaint be withdrawn.

During the hearing, his assurance to visit the Chamundeshwari Temple as part of his apology was taken into consideration. His team, however, clarified that the exact date of the visit would not be disclosed due to security reasons.

The controversy dates back to an award event in Goa, where Ranveer attempted to recreate Rishab Shetty’s portrayal of Chavundi Daiva from Kantara: Chapter 1.

Other developments around the actor

Apart from this, Ranveer Singh was also in the news for his exit from Don 3, directed by Farhan Akhtar and backed by Excel Entertainment, co-founded by Ritesh Sidhwani. Reports suggest that the actor agreed to return his signing amount—approximately ₹10 crore—and also offered a stake in his next project, tentatively titled Pralaay.

Looking ahead, Ranveer is said to be keen on collaborating with filmmakers like Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Lokesh Kanagaraj, and Atlee. He is also reportedly aiming to diversify his roles rather than continue with back-to-back gangster films.

There are also indications that he wants to fast-track his upcoming project Pralaay, with plans to begin filming sooner than originally scheduled.
