Lee Cronin’s The Mummy is holding steady at the Indian box office, continuing its impressive run through the weekdays. The film added approximately Rs. 2 crore on its first Wednesday—matching its opening day performance—and has now crossed Rs. 15 crore in just six days.

Steady weekday hold boosts first-week outlook

With a total collection of around Rs. 15.25 crore, the horror film is on track to close its first week near the Rs. 17 crore mark. Given its consistent performance so far, trade expectations suggest a healthy jump over the second weekend, potentially pushing the film closer to Rs. 25 crore.

However, upcoming competition, particularly from Michael, could impact its momentum in the days ahead.

A surprise success story

Despite modest expectations, The Mummy has already emerged as a success in India and is likely to secure a “Clean Hit” verdict soon. While it may not reach the scale of bigger Hollywood titles like F1 The Movie or Project Hail Mary, its strong holds indicate a solid theatrical run.

Initial projections had pegged its lifetime total at around Rs. 20 crore, but current trends suggest the film could comfortably aim for Rs. 30 crore or more—an excellent result for a horror release.

Day-wise box office collection (India)

  • Friday: Rs. 2.00 cr.

  • Saturday: Rs. 3.00 cr.

  • Sunday: Rs. 4.00 cr.

  • Monday: Rs. 2.00 cr.

  • Tuesday: Rs. 2.25 cr.

  • Wednesday: Rs. 2.00 cr.

Total: Rs. 15.25 crore

Legacy factor adds to appeal

While not directly connected to the original Mummy franchise, the film appears to have benefited from the legacy of earlier hits. The 1999 film and its sequels performed strongly in India, and when adjusted for inflation, their collections would exceed Rs. 200 crore today.

That familiarity, combined with steady word of mouth, has helped the latest Mummy film find its footing—making it one of the more notable Hollywood performers in India this year.
