Asha Bhosle, one of India’s most iconic playback singers, passed away on April 12, 2026, at the age of 92. The legendary artist was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital a day earlier following a cardiac arrest. Her son, Anand Bhosle, confirmed the heartbreaking news and shared details of her final rites.

Last rites details announced

Speaking to the media, Anand Bhosle informed that those wishing to pay their last respects can visit her residence at Casa Grande, Lower Parel, at 11 am on April 13. The last rites will take place later that day at 4 pm at Shivaji Park.

Soon after the news broke, condolences flooded social media, with several prominent figures mourning the loss. Celebrities like Akshay Kumar, A. R. Rahman, Neetu Kapoor, Jr NTR, Karan Johar, Hema Malini, Vivek Oberoi, and Shankar Mahadevan expressed their grief and paid tribute to her immense legacy.

Asha Bhosle enjoyed a remarkable career spanning over eight decades, recording thousands of songs across films and albums in multiple Indian and international languages. Her versatility saw her excel in film music, pop, ghazals, bhajans, classical, folk, and qawwali genres.

In her personal life, Asha Bhosle was first married to Ganpatrao Bhosle, with whom she had three children, before the couple separated. She later married legendary composer R. D. Burman in 1980.
