At a recent slate announcement event hosted by Amazon Prime Video, Shahid Kapoor confirmed that filming for the new season has already begun and also hinted at what viewers can expect.
Shahid Kapoor opens up about Farzi Season 2
After a long wait, Shahid Kapoor officially confirmed that Farzi Season 2 is underway. Speaking at the event, the actor revealed that the show—one he calls his “favourite”—has been renewed and is currently in production. He also shared that he had been eager to return to the project for nearly two years.
Sharing his excitement, he said he’s looking forward to seeing how the story develops, adding that they’ve recently started shooting and that the character remains one of his most loved roles.
Hinting at the storyline, the actor revealed that the upcoming season will take things a notch higher while still staying true to the narrative established earlier. He noted that the progression feels organic and connects seamlessly with the events of the first season, something that resonates deeply with him as a performer. He also teased that audiences can expect an entertaining ride ahead.

Farzi was initially planned as a film before being reworked into a series by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK around 2019. The show premiered in February 2023 as a black comedy crime thriller and featured a stellar cast including Shahid Kapoor, Vijay Sethupathi, Kay Kay Menon, Raashii Khanna, Bhuvan Arora, Zakir Hussain, Amol Palekar, and Kubbra Sait, among others.
The first season followed the story of an artist who gets involved in producing counterfeit currency. Recently, the creators hinted at the sequel through a social media post featuring bundles of cash, captioned “Round 2 in progress,” confirming that the next chapter is officially in motion.
