Dhurandhar 2 has become the talk of the town—and for good reason. The first installment, released in December 2025, exceeded expectations and emerged as one of the most-watched films of the year. Now, the sequel, Dhurandhar: The Revenge, is set to continue Hamza Ali’s story and is gearing up for a massive theatrical run this weekend.

Amid the growing buzz, filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma, who has previously praised the franchise, seems to have watched the film early—and he’s nothing short of ecstatic about it.

RGV showers praise on Dhurandhar 2

Taking to X, Varma shared an enthusiastic review, highlighting the film’s scale, impact, and audience appeal. He described it as a cinematic spectacle that excels across multiple aspects—from box office potential and audience excitement to its bold storytelling and audiovisual experience.

In his post, he went as far as to claim that the film’s impact could be “Sholay x 100 level magnificence,” suggesting it might surpass classics like Mughal-e-Azam and make even the greatest films seem comparatively small.

‘A new cinematic order’

Varma didn’t stop there. He called the film the “birth of a new cinematic order,” predicting it could redefine filmmaking standards. He also heaped praise on director Aditya Dhar, saying his work would be celebrated for years to come.

In a dramatic statement, Varma even suggested that globally renowned filmmakers like Steven Spielberg and Christopher Nolan should pause their work to watch Dhurandhar 2 on its opening day.

Release and anticipation

The sequel is set to hit theatres on March 19, with paid previews already available from March 18. Advance bookings have reportedly been strong, with several shows across major cinema chains selling out in advance—further fueling expectations of a blockbuster run.
