Actor Sidharth Malhotra may soon collaborate once again with filmmaker Karan Johar on a new romantic drama under the banner of Dharma Productions. Reports suggest that Malhotra is currently in advanced talks to play the lead in the project, which is likely to be directed by Sharan Sharma. If finalized, the film will mark another chapter in the long-standing professional partnership between Malhotra and Johar, which began with the actor’s Bollywood debut in Student of the Year more than a decade ago.

The proposed film is reportedly an emotionally layered relationship drama that will explore complex interpersonal dynamics. According to a report by Mid-Day, the concept was first presented to Sidharth Malhotra last year, and he responded positively to the idea.
A source shared that the studio is keen to work with the actor again, believing that the subject aligns well with his screen persona. The insider also revealed that Malhotra had initially given a verbal nod to the project but wanted to review the full script before making a formal commitment. At present, discussions are said to be in their final stages. If everything moves forward as planned, filming could begin in Mumbai during the summer of 2026.
The project would also mark another collaboration between Malhotra and Sharan Sharma, who previously directed films like Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl and Mr. & Mrs. Mahi. Over the years, Malhotra has appeared in several films linked with Dharma Productions, including Hasee Toh Phasee, Brothers, Kapoor & Sons, Baar Baar Dekho, Ittefaq, Shershaah, and Yodha.
