Although the superstar will not have a theatrical release on his usual festive date this time, he still surprised fans with a major update about his upcoming project—something that feels like a special Eidi for his admirers.
Salman Khan’s Battle of Galwan gets a new title
Salman Khan’s anticipated war drama Battle of Galwan has officially been retitled Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace. Sharing the announcement on social media, the actor unveiled a new poster along with the caption: “May War Rest In Peace. #Maatrubhumi.”
The newly released poster features Salman Khan dressed in an Indian Army uniform. His face appears bruised and covered in dust and blood, hinting at the intensity of the battlefield. His fierce expression suggests a soldier who has endured a brutal confrontation and is ready to face his enemies.
While the makers have revealed the new title and poster, the film’s release date has not been confirmed yet. Earlier reports suggested that Battle of Galwan might arrive in theatres on April 17, 2026, but industry insiders now indicate that the film could instead release sometime around July or August 2026.
For those unaware, Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace draws inspiration from the 2020 Galwan Valley clash, which took place between India and China. The film is directed by Apoorva Lakhia, known for projects like Shootout at Lokhandwala and Haseena Parkar. Actress Chitrangda Singh will play the female lead.
Salman Khan’s upcoming projects
After Maatrubhumi, Salman Khan is reportedly set to collaborate with filmmaker Vamsi Paidipally on a large-scale action film backed by Dil Raju. The project is expected to begin production around April 2026. Additionally, the actor is also said to be in discussions with the filmmaker duo Raj & DK for a superhero action-comedy venture.
