Nearly nine years after the previous film in the Sarkar series, filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma is preparing to revisit the intense political-crime world with Sarkar 4. The director is set to reunite with the powerful on-screen duo Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan for the upcoming installment. It has exclusively learned that the film is expected to begin production on April 25, marking a significant return for both the filmmaker and the popular franchise that started with Sarkar.
According to a source close to the development, the first shooting schedule will prominently feature the Bachchan father-son pair. “The opening schedule will start with Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan filming together from the very beginning,” the source revealed. The insider further shared that Varma intends to approach the project as a reboot rather than a direct continuation of the earlier three films.
Over the years, the Sarkar series has remained one of Ram Gopal Varma’s most acclaimed creations, known for its gripping storytelling and powerful performances. The original film, released in 2005, introduced audiences to the character of Subhash Nagre, portrayed by Amitabh Bachchan, a commanding figure operating within Mumbai’s political underworld. Its success led to the sequel Sarkar Raj, which expanded the narrative and gave Abhishek Bachchan’s character a more significant role.
The third installment, Sarkar 3, arrived almost a decade ago, leaving fans uncertain about the future of the franchise. Now, with Sarkar 4, the director reportedly plans to revisit the universe while presenting a refreshed storyline. If everything proceeds as scheduled, filming will begin on April 25, with Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan expected to shoot several crucial dramatic scenes together during the initial phase of production.
