The upcoming romantic drama Ek Din, marking the Hindi debut of Sai Pallavi alongside Junaid Khan, has been generating buzz ever since its trailer was unveiled. Produced by Aamir Khan, the film sparked comparisons with Saiyaara starring Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda. However, Aamir Khan has now clarified that the two films are completely different.
Aamir Khan reacts to Ek Din–Saiyaara comparisons
The trailer of Ek Din was released on March 11 and features a conversation between the lead characters that caught viewers’ attention. In the clip, Meera (played by Sai Pallavi) tells Rohan (played by Junaid Khan), “Yeh to meri zindagi ka sabse khoobsurat din hai.” To this, he replies, “Par kal tumhein yeh din yaad nahin rahega.”
The dialogue led many fans to assume that the story might resemble Saiyaara, where the female lead suffers from Alzheimer’s disease.
Addressing the speculation during an interview with Variety India, Aamir Khan firmly dismissed the comparison. He said, “No! No! Our film is completely different!” The actor-producer added that Ek Din is a classic love story, the kind audiences haven’t seen in a long time.
About Ek Din
Directed by Sunil Pandey, Ek Din follows the story of a shy young man who secretly loves a woman but never gathers the courage to confess his feelings. One day, he makes a wish at a fortune bell to experience being in love with her—even if it’s only for a single day.
His wish comes true, and the two spend a magical day together. However, as the day ends, the bond between them begins to fade, leaving audiences wondering whether fate will reunite them.
The film is reportedly inspired by the 2016 Thai movie One Day and has been partly shot in Japan to capture scenic winter landscapes.
Ek Din is scheduled to release in cinemas on May 1, 2026.
