Yami Gautam Clarifies Controversy Over Reel Featuring Kriti Sanon
Yami Gautam recently found herself in the middle of a social media stir after she “accidentally” liked a viral reel that seemed to poke fun at Kriti Sanon accepting a Best Actor award for Tere Ishk Mein.
The reel spliced together clips of Kriti celebrating her win and Yami saying she doesn’t seek validation from award functions. While the like was unintentional, it quickly sparked speculation online.
Yami Speaks Out
Taking to social media, Yami addressed the situation, stating:
“It has come to my notice that I apparently ‘liked’ a reel that is condescending toward another actor. This isn’t true and was definitely not done consciously; if anything, it may have been clicked accidentally.”
She explained that actors are tagged in countless posts every day, and the reel in question was just one among many from an award function.
Yami also made it clear that she has never used “cheap PR tactics” to take jabs at others. She emphasized that her focus has always been on her work rather than creating controversies:
“I have no PR team, have respectfully cleared my stance on entertainment award shows long ago, and remain focused on my work.”
The actress further criticized how some social media handles and media outlets tend to create drama out of ordinary situations, turning them into gossip. She urged everyone to consider her reputation, built over years of dedication to her craft.
The Reel That Sparked the Buzz
The viral clip showed Kriti Sanon proudly holding her Best Actor trophy, while the other half featured Yami saying:
“We try everything, still doesn’t work. So, I have stopped seeking any validation; if I get the award, then only I am a good actor.”
