Sai Pallavi Might Replace Deepika Padukone in Prabhas’ Kalki 2898 AD Part 2

After its blockbuster success in 2024, Kalki 2898 AD is gearing up for its sequel, with filming expected to kick off in February 2026. And amid all the excitement, speculation is swirling that Sai Pallavi could step into the shoes of Deepika Padukone as Sumathi.

Earlier, reports hinted that Alia Bhatt might take the role, but the latest buzz suggests Sai Pallavi is now the frontrunner. That said, nothing has been officially confirmed by the makers yet.

The creators had previously announced that they would no longer be collaborating with Deepika Padukone, citing scheduling and commitment issues as the reason for her exit.

Prabhas’ busy year ahead
Prabhas is expected to start shooting for Kalki 2898 AD Part 2 on February 2, 2026, and will also resume work on his other projects, Spirit and Fauji. Fans can expect the actor to juggle these schedules for back-to-back releases.

What makes Kalki 2898 AD special
The sci-fi mythological epic starts at the end of the Mahabharata’s Kurukshetra War, marking the beginning of the Kali Yuga in 3102 BC. Ashwatthama is tasked by Lord Krishna to protect Lord Vishnu’s final avatar when the time comes.

Fast forward 6,000 years to 2898 AD: the world has become a dystopian nightmare, ruled by the self-proclaimed god Supreme Yaskin. While most people try to survive by obeying him, a few rise in rebellion. Amid this chaos, a new hope emerges in the form of an unborn child, Sumathi, whose life force Yaskin desperately wants to control. The stage is set for an epic saga that continues the story for generations.
