Mouni Roy Opens Up About Harassment at Karnal Event: ‘I Feel Humiliated and Traumatised’

Mouni Roy, one of the most loved faces of Indian television and film, recently faced a deeply unsettling experience while performing at an event in Karnal, Haryana. Known for her professionalism and huge fan following, the actress took to Instagram to share the incident, expressing her shock and distress.

According to Mouni, the trouble began even before she reached the stage. “As I was walking towards the stage, two elderly men and some male family members put their hands around my waist to take pictures,” she wrote. When she politely asked them to stop, they seemed offended.

Things took a worse turn on stage. “Two uncles stood right in front of me, making lewd remarks, showing hand gestures, and calling me names,” Mouni revealed. She tried to signal them to stop, but in response, they threw roses at her—turning what should have been a celebration into a humiliating ordeal.

Mouni highlighted the bigger issue this reflects about the industry. “If someone as famous as me has to go through this, I can’t even imagine what new girls entering the industry face,” she said. She urged authorities to take action, emphasizing that artists like her are only trying to earn a living through their craft.

The actress also pointed out that the men were recording videos from low angles and, when confronted, began abusing others. She criticized family members who failed to intervene and called out the mindset of people who believe it’s acceptable to harass a female artist just because she’s entertaining them.

“We as actors go to these events to wish the bride and groom and celebrate with them. Yet, we’re harassed like this,” Mouni said, her words reflecting both shock and disgust.
