Back in late 2024, Bollywood went into a frenzy when news emerged that Govinda had been hospitalized with a gunshot wound. Fans panicked as details trickled in, but it was later clarified that the actor had accidentally shot himself at home. Now, his niece and TV star Ragini Khanna is opening up about how intense that day felt for the family. She recalled the enormous security measures in place — 200 police officers stationed at the hospital and another 50 guarding his residence.
Speaking to Vickey Lalwani, Ragini described the moment she learned about the accident. Her mother had called to say that her Chichi Mama had been shot, sending the family into immediate shock. “I was emotionally reactive,” she admitted, explaining that she waited a few hours before heading to the hospital to avoid adding to the tension. Her mother and brother stayed by Govinda’s side, and Ragini joined them shortly after.
She also addressed lingering rumors of foul play, dismissing them in light of the heavy police presence. “With 200 officers at the hospital and 50 at home, if someone else had been involved, there was no way they could have gotten away,” Ragini said.
The incident drew a wave of support from the industry, with directors like David Dhawan and actors like Shatrughan Sinha visiting Govinda. To reassure worried fans, the actor even shared a voice note from his hospital bed, confirming that the bullet had been removed and that he was recovering well.
