Alia Bhatt and Sharvari’s Alpha Likely to Skip April 2026 Release to Avoid Clash With Salman Khan’s Battle of Galwan

Alia Bhatt and Sharvari’s upcoming spy action thriller, Alpha, seems to be shifting its release date to avoid a clash at the box office with Salman Khan’s Battle of Galwan.

Salman Khan recently celebrated his 60th birthday on December 27, 2025. As part of the celebrations, the makers of Battle of Galwan released a teaser and announced the film’s release date as April 17, 2026. This would have put it in direct competition with Alpha, prompting the makers of the spy thriller to reconsider their schedule.

According to reports from trade analyst Taran Adarsh, Alpha is now likely to skip its tentative April 17 release. While no official announcement has been made yet, the film’s producers, led by Aditya Chopra, are expected to announce a new date after reviewing the theatrical calendar in the coming months.

This would mark the second postponement for Alpha. Initially slated for a Christmas 2025 release, the film had been pushed back due to pending visual effects work.

About Alpha

Alpha is the seventh installment in the YRF Spy Universe, directed by Shiv Rawail. The film stars Alia Bhatt and Sharvari as two fierce agents, supported by Bobby Deol and Anil Kapoor in pivotal roles. The story continues the spy saga established by previous YRF films, including War 2, which starred Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR. Interestingly, the post-credits scene in War 2 introduced Bobby Deol’s character, who is set to play the primary antagonist in Alpha.

About Battle of Galwan

Battle of Galwan is an upcoming action-packed drama featuring Salman Khan as Indian Army officer Colonel Bikkumalla Santosh Babu. The film is based on the bestselling book India’s Most Fearless, which chronicles the 2020 clash in the Galwan Valley between India and China.

With Alpha likely moving its release, both films now have a better chance to shine at the box office without stepping on each other’s toes — much to the relief of fans eagerly awaiting both blockbusters.
