Following the blockbuster success of Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge, Ranveer Singh has officially begun shooting for his next film, Pralay. The ambitious zombie action thriller went on floors today in Mumbai, marking the start of one of Indian cinema’s most anticipated survival spectacles.
Ranveer Singh, Jai Mehta and Kalyani Priyadarshan Begin a New Journey
Pralay will be directed by Jai Mehta, the son of acclaimed filmmaker Hansal Mehta. Known for helming Lootere and co-directing Scam 1992, Jai is making his feature film directorial debut with the project.
The film also stars Kalyani Priyadarshan as the female lead, marking her Hindi film debut. For Ranveer Singh, Pralay is equally significant as it marks his first outing as a producer under his banner, Maa Kasam Films.
A Large-Scale Zombie Survival Spectacle
The film is jointly produced by Birla Studios, Maa Kasam Films and Hansal Mehta–Sahil Saigal’s True Story Films. Mounted on a grand scale, Pralay will feature an international technical crew and aims to deliver a genre-defining cinematic experience.
Set against the bustling landscape of Mumbai, the story combines large-scale action with an emotional survival narrative. At its core, the film explores courage, resilience and the human instinct to protect loved ones as the world descends into chaos.
Shooting Across Real Locations in Mumbai
Unlike conventional studio-heavy productions, Pralay will be filmed extensively at live locations across Mumbai. The makers believe the use of real environments will enhance the film’s realism, scale and immersive atmosphere while bringing authenticity to its post-apocalyptic setting.
After several months of intensive technical pre-production, cameras have finally started rolling, making Pralay one of the most ambitious zombie thrillers currently in production in Indian cinema.
