The first week of Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa has already delivered several emotional moments. In the latest episode, actress Akanksha Chamola broke down while speaking about her impending divorce from Gaurav Khanna. She also candidly revealed the reason that ultimately led to their decision to part ways.
Akanksha Chamola Says Different Views on Parenthood Led to Split with Gaurav Khanna
After confirming in the premiere episode that she and Gaurav Khanna have been living separately for the past year, Akanksha opened up further about what caused the breakdown of their marriage.
During an emotional conversation with fellow contestants Shreya Kalra and Sufi Motiwala, Akanksha shared that their differing perspectives on having children played a major role in their separation.
Holding back tears, she admitted that revealing this personal truth publicly had been extremely difficult. She explained that while she initially hoped she might eventually develop a desire for motherhood, she later realized that parenthood was not something she wanted.
“I never had maternal instincts. I thought maybe I would discover them with time. But gradually I realized that I’m not meant for it. Initially, he was okay with it, but over time things changed. Now he wants to have kids, and I know I can’t give him that,” she said.
When asked whether she might reconsider becoming a mother in the future, Akanksha remained firm about her decision.
“I don’t have those instincts. I realized that a long time ago. I even told him that if he wanted to move on, he could. That’s completely fair. Most people get married to have children and continue their family lineage. He’s not wrong for wanting that,” she shared.
Akanksha also reflected on how Gaurav’s stint on Bigg Boss 19 made her realize how important fatherhood had become to him.
“After Bigg Boss, I understood that he wanted children very badly. I knew I couldn’t give him that, and I didn’t want to keep him in that situation. I chose to be child-free for a reason. I want to live that way,” she added.
While Akanksha is currently participating in Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa, Gaurav Khanna is competing in Khatron Ke Khiladi 15.
