Junaid Khan says being Aamir Khan’s son gives him career advantage

In an industry where discussions around nepotism often put actors on the defensive, Junaid Khan has taken a refreshingly honest stance. The Maharaj actor, who has been gradually building his own identity through unconventional projects, recently acknowledged that his family background has undeniably helped him land opportunities in Bollywood.

Junaid Khan openly acknowledges nepotism advantage

During an interview with Vickey Lalwani, Junaid did not avoid the ongoing nepotism debate that has dominated conversations in the Hindi film industry for years. Instead, he responded with complete candor.

Sharing his thoughts, the actor said, “The word ‘nepotism’ doesn’t bother me because it’s true. I do get a lot of opportunities because I’m Aamir Khan’s son.” He further pointed out that despite delivering two unsuccessful films, he continues to receive projects.

However, Junaid also emphasized that his father’s influence is not the only reason behind casting decisions in the industry. According to him, producers are ultimately driven by marketability and business prospects.

Explaining his perspective, the actor noted that filmmakers often prioritize actors who are easier to promote and sell commercially rather than selecting performers purely based on suitability for the role.

“It’s not really about insiders versus outsiders for me,” Junaid explained. “The issue is when someone is cast mainly because they are marketable. The focus should be on choosing the person who genuinely fits the character and the story.”

The 32-year-old actor’s latest release, a romantic drama alongside Sai Pallavi directed by Sunil Pandey, failed to leave a major impression both critically and commercially.

Up next, Junaid is reportedly being considered for Ekta Kapoor’s upcoming addition to the Ragini MMS franchise. Tamannaah Bhatia and Junaid are currently in talks for the project, tentatively titled Ragini 3. Industry reports also suggest that Shashanka Ghosh may direct the film.
