Saif Ali Khan’s wedding to Amrita Singh has remained one of Bollywood’s most memorable celebrity marriages. Now, his sisters Soha Ali Khan and Saba Pataudi have revealed an interesting detail about the intimate ceremony. During an appearance on Neha Dhupia and Angad Bedi’s Double Date, the sisters recalled that they were still in school when Saif got married and only learned about the wedding at the last minute.

Soha and Saba reveal why they missed Saif-Amrita’s wedding

Saba Pataudi revealed that she was 15 years old while Soha was only 13 when Saif Ali Khan tied the knot with Amrita Singh in 1991. Recalling how they found out about the marriage, Saba said they received a call in the principal’s office from their parents, who instructed them not to share the news with anyone.

She explained that the wedding had already become a topic in the newspapers, but they were still unsure about the details. Since they were both very young and the ceremony was arranged quickly, neither Soha nor Saba attended the wedding.

Soha recalled, “My French teacher told me. It was a last-minute affair.”

The revelation surprised Neha Dhupia, who learned that neither of Saif’s sisters had been present at the ceremony.

Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh’s marriage

Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh got married in 1991 despite their 12-year age gap and differences in their backgrounds. The two had reportedly met before Saif made his acting debut, when Amrita was already an established Bollywood actress. Saif was only 21 when they decided to get married, making the union an unexpected development at the time.

The couple welcomed their daughter Sara Ali Khan in 1995 and son Ibrahim Ali Khan in 2001. After 13 years of marriage, Saif and Amrita separated in 2004.

Following their divorce, Amrita focused on raising their children, while Saif later married Kareena Kapoor in 2012. Sara and Ibrahim have since followed their parents into the film industry, while Saif and Kareena are parents to sons Taimur Ali Khan and Jehangir Ali Khan.
