The Odyssey records 75% jump on 3rd Saturday, races past Rs 170 crore at the Indian box office

Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey continues its impressive run at the Indian box office. The epic drama, featuring Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, and an ensemble cast, collected an estimated Rs. 7 crore on its third Saturday, registering a strong 75 percent jump over the previous day.

With this, the film’s total India gross collection has reached an estimated Rs. 170.50 crore in just 16 days. Going by current trends, it is expected to add another Rs. 7–9 crore on Sunday, taking its cumulative total close to the Rs. 180 crore mark.

A major contributor to the film’s success has been its exceptional performance in IMAX, with nearly two-thirds of its total box office coming from premium large-format screens. Given its sustained demand, The Odyssey is expected to continue dominating IMAX screens for several more weeks.

The film is now firmly on course to enter the Rs. 200 crore club during its theatrical run, with a lifetime finish of Rs. 210 crore or more looking increasingly likely, depending on how it performs over the coming weeks.

One of the biggest driving forces behind the film’s phenomenal reception is the brand value of Christopher Nolan, who has built a loyal following among Indian audiences over the past decade. Widely regarded as one of the world’s finest filmmakers, Nolan has consistently drawn crowds to cinemas, with Oppenheimer, the Interstellar re-release, and now The Odyssey enjoying remarkable success in the Indian market.

Interestingly, historical epics have not traditionally been among Hollywood’s strongest-performing genres in India. Yet, The Odyssey has managed to rewrite expectations, much like Oppenheimer did despite its dialogue-heavy narrative. It also raises curiosity about the box office potential of any future Nolan film with broader commercial appeal, similar to Inception.
