Diljit Dosanjh made a lively return to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, engaging in a fun conversation and showcasing his signature dance moves, much to the excitement of fans. Appearing alongside host Jimmy Fallon after launching his latest tour and album, the Punjabi star reflected on the significance of selling out stadiums near places where people like him were once denied entry. He also spoke about his album AURA and shared some lighthearted moments on the show.
Why Diljit named his album AURA
Diljit revealed that the title of his album AURA—which has already crossed 100 million streams—was inspired by his fans. He explained that audiences often compliment him by saying he has an “amazing aura” after attending his concerts, which led him to adopt the name for the project.
Emotional connection to Vancouver shows
Talking about his recent performances, Diljit highlighted his first show in Vancouver as part of the tour. He noted that performing two sold-out stadium shows there, with around 55,000 attendees, was deeply meaningful. He pointed out the historical contrast, recalling that in 1914, people from his community were denied entry into Canada at those very locations, making his achievement even more special.
Teaching bhangra to Jimmy Fallon
A day after the episode aired, Diljit shared a video on Instagram capturing memorable moments from the show. In the post, he thanked Jimmy Fallon for warmly welcoming him and for providing a global platform to represent Punjabi culture. He also included clips of teaching Fallon some bhangra steps backstage—moves they later recreated during the show.
A humble moment on language
Despite his massive global success—including sold-out stadium tours, 15 studio albums, and a Coachella performance—Diljit remained grounded. During the interview, he joked about his English skills, mentioning that he never attended college and is only a 10th-grade graduate. “That’s why my English is bad,” he said humorously, drawing laughter from the audience. Fallon, however, quickly disagreed and reassured him during the conversation.
