Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai is an upcoming romantic comedy headlined by Varun Dhawan and directed by David Dhawan. The film is now scheduled to hit theatres on June 5, 2026, following the postponement of Yash-starrer Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups.

Varun Dhawan acknowledges Yash after release date shift

Taking to social media, Varun Dhawan confirmed that the film has reverted to its original release date of June 5, 2026. In his post, he also thanked Yash and the makers of Toxic for accommodating the change.

Sharing the update, Varun wrote that the film will arrive in theatres on June 5, 2026, expressing gratitude to Yash and Maddock Films for helping realign the release calendar. He also highlighted that the film will be the first theatrical release after the IPL season.

Initially, the film was slated for a June 5 release. However, with Toxic earlier scheduled for June 4, 2026, the makers shifted it to June 12, before briefly advancing it to May 22. With Toxic now delayed, the team has once again adjusted the schedule, returning to its original date.

Toxic was recently pushed back from its June 2026 release window after receiving a strong response at CinemaCon, with the makers opting for a broader global rollout.

The romantic comedy promises a quirky “double trouble” love story, as hinted in its first-look teaser. The glimpse features two babies, born to different mothers, discussing how their fathers share the same name and birthday—raising the possibility that they might be the same person.

Alongside Varun Dhawan, the film stars Pooja Hegde and Mrunal Thakur as co-leads. The supporting cast includes Mouni Roy, Rohit Saraf, Jimmy Shergill, Chunky Panday, Maniesh Paul, and Rajesh Kumar in key roles.
